Conservation Issues

T. thoreyi are on the special concern list in New York State. The definition of special concern is:

“Any native species for which a welfare concern or risk of endangerment has been documented in New York State.”(New York State Department of Conservation, 2001) This species was placed on this list because there are very few sites where it is know to live. These dragonflies require clean spring fed seeps. One threat to these seeps is withdrawal or pollution of ground water. Most of the places t. thoreyi are known to live in New York State are in state parks. (Novak, 2002)
